Firewall Tutorial

Many users who are trying to listen to our broadcasts behind a firewall might have to make a simple adjustment in their QuickTime Player preferences. If you're not sure if you're behind a firewall, you should still complete the steps below. This procedure can't hurt...it can only help! This tutorial is designed for QuickTime 7 users on the Windows operating system. Click here if you are using version 6.5 or earlier of QuickTime for Windows. Mac users click here.

1. Click on the "Listen" or "Listen Live" link on your school's broadcast page to launch QuickTime Player. With the QuickTime Player window open, choose Edit>Preferences>QuickTime Preferences from the drop-down menu across the top of the player (see illustration below).

2. Select "Advanced" from the panel of tabs across the top of the window (see illustration below). Then, from the "Transport Setup" pull-down menu, choose "Custom...".

3.From the "Transport Protocol" menu, choose "HTTP" and from the "Port ID:" menu, choose "80." Click OK twice to exit the preferences window and try relaunching the broadcast.
